SK Communications and Microsoft Korea have announced a research partnership:

The memorandum of understanding with Microsoft Korea calls for joint research into technologies involving 3D user interfaces, advertisements, Internet Protocol broadcasting and new service models, SK Communications said.

According to the Copyright Protection Center, last year a total of 1.34 million songs were illegally provided through the portals. Internet users can freely listen to music on blogs belonging to the portals without paying.

“We have asked the portals to stop offering songs in an unauthorized manner since January, but nothing has changed so far,” said a center official who asked not to be named. “So, we had to ask prosecutors to launch the investigation.”
