The Korea Times looks at the trend of more devices getting touch screen interfaces:

Although mobile phones are clearly the biggest growth area, touch-screen technology is now being deployed in just about every electronics product conventionally used in daily life ― laptop computers, game machines, MP3 players, portable multimedia players (PMP), digital cameras and televisions.

After three decades of existence, and spending most of that time stuck with ATM machines at banks, touch screen technology finally seems to be on the verge of a renaissance.

Synaptics Korea is meeting demand for these new interfaces by opening a Korea Design Center to collaborate with mobile customers like Samsung and LG.

Korean display manufacturers are also increasing their supply of capacitive touch panels:

Capacitive touch windows which allow the multi-touching input will be manufactured by domestic companies as well.

DigiTech System and HanTouchScreen already began the mass production of capacitive touch windows in this month.

LG Innotek and Samsung SDI will also join the market.
