Robot World 2008: ETRI's Gesture Interface Technology
2009/01/06 00:10Korea’s Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) had a booth at Robot World 2008 and they had a variety of robotics-related technologies on display.
One of which was their Gesture Interface Technology (GIT) which they were demoing from the Mediated Interface Research Team at ETRI which is targeted at edutainment, human-robot interface and motion-based applications:
GIT (Gesture Interface Technology) does motion recognition to tell what motion a user performed. GIT provides an integrated environment for creating a recognizer in a casual manner, and allows users to define their own gestures at runtime.
The video below shows an edutainment game demo that requires the user to draw using the Nintendo Wii controller the first letter of the objects on the screen:
