Other local software developers have been making their App Store debuts. Before Byun, freelance programmer Hwang Eui-beom’s “Freshwater Aquarium” mobile game ranked 19th on the App Store.
Among local IT companies, Dreamwiz has been most aggressive in encouraging employees to create programs for the App Store. DreamWiz has launched 17 pieces of software in the online marketplace, including games and dictionaries.
Korean Insight previews at a new app store coming from Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom:
For this service, SK Telecom will provide severs, payment systems and SDK to public. Also SK Telecom is planning to invite the public to join in a prize contest for creative ideas, and support them for commercialization. SK Telecom already set up the team for this mobile contents marketplace.
