Korean portals criminal copyright infringement trial
2009/03/13 22:06Korean portals Daum and Naver will face a trial for copyright infringement through their sites:
The Seoul Central District Court on Monday said the two companies will be remitted to the criminal court on the charges of allowing illegal sharing of copyrighted materials, such as music and video files, on online cafés and blogs.
“As it is the first case of an online portal being indicted, we thought rather than going through written summary procedure under the assumption of culpability, it would be better to decide on the case objectively in a trial,” said a court official.

The Korean Supreme Court opened their first e-filing site for lawyers filing documents:
The Supreme Court on Sunday said it has opened an electronic system (efile.scourt.go.kr) where lawyers can request and receive documents pertaining to lawsuits.
But it is only available to counsel representing the individuals involved, and the papers have no force in law. Bona-fide documents must still be delivered by mail and formal documents presented to the court must be submitted in person after sending the electronic version via the Internet.
