Internet Addiction in Korea
2007/11/19 19:19The New York Times comes to Korea to report on a new Internet addiction youth bootcamp:
But these young people are not battling alcohol or drugs. Rather, they have severe cases of what many in this country believe is a new and potentially deadly addiction: cyberspace.
They come here, to the Jump Up Internet Rescue School, the first camp of its kind in South Korea and possibly the world, to be cured.
Last May, the Washington Post took a similar theme covering video game addicts in South Korea.
It probably makes for a somewhat compelling article to talk about Internet addiction with the most wired country as the backdrop. But with the exception of the boot camp, there doesn't seem to be anything new brought up from any other Internet/video game addiction articles.
