After running a trial last year, Korea has announced plans to expand their use of digital textbooks in Korean elementary schools:

The Education and Human Resources Development Ministry and the Korea Education and Research Information Service said Thursday (Jan. 17) that 20 elementary schools as early as March will start using digital textbooks for six subjects -- Korean, English, mathematics, sociology, science and music.

Along with the textbooks, some schools will also receive digital blackboards and wireless Internet networks.

SK C&C is one of the Korean companies working on digital textbooks, another is LG CNS. You can read about the previous trial from a Dong-A Ilbo article reposted to the SK C&C website.

If you are interested in the development of digital textbooks in Korea, the presentations from the e-Learning Global Leaders Conference held last September in Seoul is available for download (81MB).

Meanwhile, Korea Telecom is continuing to target universities by  signing an agreement with Seoul Cyber Unversity for a WiBro u-Campus service:

Using the new network, students of the university can subscribe to WIBRO services through the website of the school and will be able to use a variety of school services including Internet lecture, class attendance check, assignment submission, application for tests and etc. on the go.
