The Ministry of Knowledge Economy is testing out eight new devices to improve healthcare in Korea using information technology:

By using a specially developed mobile phone and a belt, Kim will be sent medical assistance if he faints. A sensor embedded in his belt would detect his condition and send a signal to his mobile phone. Then, the phone would automatically request help from an emergency center and send text messages to Kim¡¯s family.

The device is one of eight high-tech products the Ministry of Knowledge Economy unveiled yesterday in a release. The ministry hopes these products will improve the lives of people who are in need of help by using IT technology.
