Reporting from Seoul
2007/10/29 19:22Samsung brought a few journalists to Korea for an update on Samsung's latest products along with a factory tour. infoSync had a five-part series on their visit to Seoul.
With the recent post on product design at Samsung comes an article in BusinessWeek on the power of designers at Bang & Olufsen (one of Samsung's partners in developing new products):
Bernhard Warner from the Sunday Times was in Seoul a few weeks ago and filed a report about some trends in mobile technology in Korea. He also interviewed Takeshi Natsuno, one of the developers of DoCoMo's i-mode service, on the problems he perceives with the European rollout of mobile Internet services.Bang & Olufsen is a business built on design genius, not more conventional design processes. Its product development is driven by a half-dozen or so creative individuals, not by managers. There is no other business model quite like it on the global scene.
Also, the Wired Blog Epicenter had an interesting post recently on AT&T's acquisition of 700Mhz spectrum in the US:
According to Electronista, Stephenson told audience members that the iPhone is making AT&T reconsider its entire approach to data and video. While most of its customers used the internet sparingly on their phones, the frequency of access "jumps by multiples" when existing subscribers switch to an iPhone, Stephenson said.
He also admitted that until the iPhone came along, his company never thought it likely customers would watch much video on a cell phone. In fact, Stephenson characterized this sudden discovery as a significant motivation in buying that 700 MHz spectrum from Aloha Partners.
