A reporter from the Australian newspaper The Age was invited for a complimentary trip to Seoul and the article took a look at the latest high-tech amenities available at local hotels.

Some interesting notes from the article include the Shilla Hotel which provides guests with access to complimentary mobile phones rentals. The system also allows calls routed to their room to be automatically sent to the mobile phone if they are outside of their room or the hotel.

One of the unique uses of technology is with the public art displays at the W Seoul-Walkerhill:

The artwork throughout the hotel is original and interactive; it's perhaps a taste of the way new media art may inhabit public spaces in the future. For example, I'm waiting for the lift to arrive on the ninth floor when I realise that the screen on the wall in front of me has rearranged itself into a contemporary block-mosaic that is an artistic but recognisable likeness of me.

And there was a somewhat odd reference to a drawing tablet available in the room that was hooked up to the flat screen television:

When I'm bored with movies, I lie in bed sketching on a computerised drawing tablet and watch the results of my creativity projected through the in-room computer system onto the plasma display.
